Symphonic poem in passaglia form. Its theme is composed on a series of 12 notes and 12 rythmic values. Nevertheless this work does not use the "dodecaphonic system". This method is simply used as a basic composition ingredient and in search of a poetic dimension.
Mare Nostrum, it is "our sea", as said the Romans of Antiquity, speaking about the Mediterranean; it was their conscience of the world. Which other musical form than the passacaglia can better symbolize the character at the same time cyclic and always different of the sea, of time, of life, of Universe?
Mare Nostrum, today, extends to the borders of Space and Time.
